Darkness falls. by chuxsta Darkness falls. by chuxsta
this was just after the biggest rainfall ever in my home town..
choppers were out looking for a car that had been swept off a cliff road in the floods down the hill.

while i was taking these this is what was going on only 200 meters away

I'm curious how you edited this. It looks like a really long exposure, but the chopper is crisp.

I have to hold my hand up and this one was took using auto on the camera with out flash ( ofc )
i never use auto but the light, colour and weather was so messed up due to the insane storm we had..
and as i was in a rush to get down and see the floods we had i didnt want to waste time.
as you can see in the shot details it was far from a long exposure.
Shutter Speed1/60 second
ApertureF/3.5
Focal Length18 mm
ISO Speed560

the effects in the image were all in PS CS6 and Nik collection plugins for CS6.
the soft focus / image diffiusion gives the very smoothed feel to things..
i masked off certain areas while doing this to keep certain elements crisp
when taking it i didnt even notice the chopper, although i could hear it.
i was taking the image of the cliff lift building with the cliffs and clouds..
the chopper been there was a complete fluke.

thank you..
was a very surreal night.. took a day to get over the devastation and take it all in.
as i mentioned in the comment above, the chopper been in the shot was pure fluke. i didnt notice it till i started processing the image.

Not at all :)

And yeah I know, when I saw all the pictures of uprooted trees and ruined tarmac and that car being swept away it was really crazy! It#s lucky no one was hurt really.

Oh wow guess it was one of those in the right place at the right time moments then :) Awesome job either way!
